Pitot-Static Leak Checks & IFR Certification Coordination
In-house pitot-static leak checks
We check the pitot and static systems for leaks at our hangar. Owners typically need a leak check:
-
After any work that opens the pitot or static system, such as instrument replacement, a panel upgrade, or a Garmin G5 or GI 275 installation
-
When troubleshooting airspeed, altimeter or VSI indications that don't look right
-
As part of preparing for IFR certification
If we find a leak, we track it down and fix it before your aircraft goes on to certification.
IFR altimeter, static and transponder certifications (91.411 / 91.413)
Aircraft flown IFR in controlled airspace need altimeter, static system and automatic pressure altitude reporting tests every 24 calendar months under 14 CFR 91.411. Transponders need testing every 24 calendar months under 91.413, and after installation. Aero Professionals coordinates these IFR altimeter, static and transponder certifications through a certificated repair station. You get one point of contact for the leak check, any repairs and the certification scheduling.
Pair it with other work
Because a static-system leak check usually follows panel or instrument work, it fits naturally with avionics installation, custom instrument panel projects, or your annual or 100-hour inspection.
Aircraft we work on
We work on Piper, Mooney, Cessna, Maule, CubCrafters and Socata TB9, TB20 and TB21 aircraft, among others.
